Show Low, AZ is a mountain town surrounded by ponderosa pine forests. Show Low gets its name from a legendary poker game between two early-settlement landholders, Marion Clark, and C.E. Cooley. The two men decided that the settlement wasn’t big enough for the two of them, so they played cards for it. The man who showed the lowest card was to win control of the area. Cooley famously won the land by turning up the lowest card possible, the deuce of clubs.
